About

Hello and Welcome to my little place…

I’m glad you stopped by. Let me introduce myself and tell you a little about who I am and what this is all about. My name is Maureen, but just about everyone calls me Mo.

I wear a lot of hats, maybe you do too? I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend, a teacher, a musician, an assistant and a baker, (just to name a few), but I learned a few years back that none of these roles define who I am, they simply describe some of the things I do.

I am beloved daughter of, God, Most High and devoted to knowing his heart. I was made for worship and I spend my life leaning into the heart of God, because I just want to know Him more. I don’t claim to have it all figured out, but I am passionate about this, because it is in that place that I have found fulfillment and peace. This is my heart: to lay myself out before the LORD completely and the lead others to do the same—however that looks like.  I am a Worship Leader because I love the LORD and I love to help others find their way in the holy presence of God. I am passionate about this so mentoring others has become one of the vehicles I use in lead.

My Family!

I really love these guys because they just make everything sweeter. My husband is Ryan. We met at freshman orientation during our first week of college, although we did not start dating until the following year. Ryan is a raging extrovert—I mean off the charts—and all things sports. He loves people and people really love him. He is a pretty amazing guy, and I’m glad he’s mine!

We have two beautiful kids: Joshua and Alethea. Josh is our first-born and quickly becoming a man. I refer to him as, “Tall One,” because he has surpassed EVERYONE in our family, by a lot! Josh is an all or nothing kind of guy so while he has a tender heart, he is intolerant to injustice. He loves basketball and everything about J.R. Tolkien.

Alethea (everyone calls her Ally) is our youngest and as a toddler earned the nickname: “fearless one!” Her approach to almost everything usually makes me want to squeeze my eyes shut and hold my breath—but that’s my issue, not hers. I learn a lot from this delightful treasure as she goes after life untethered and on her own terms. Ally is extremely creative and has a real love for science, which feeds her desire to creatively figure things out.

In 1996, I graduated from Emmanuel Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Education in Professional Studies. That’s a pretty big name which really just means I have a double major of Bible and Theology and a double minor in religious education and music. So, a little bit of everything. I also studied music through the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Canada, and have over twenty years of experience in teaching piano.

What We Do

My husband and I have been in Pastoral ministry since before we were married. We served for almost seven years in Ryan’s home church, in the areas of Youth and Worship.  In 2002, we moved from Canada to South Central Pennsylvania to lead to a struggling church plant. We arrived  with everything we owned packed in a large U-Haul—Josh and Ally were both under 5 years of age—and our family thought we were nuts. I love that our lives are full of adventure and seasoned with a little bit of crazy!

What a privilege to see first hand the great things that God does in the lives of those who follow him.  We have had the pleasure of serving New Life Community Church—a Brethren in Christ Church—for almost 15 years, as Lead Pastor and Worship Pastor. What an honor to walk with such a beautiful community committed to the pursuit of loving God and loving others.
